Dr. Fred S., is a board-certified psychiatrist with over four decades of clinical, military, and academic experience in psychiatry, adolescent psychiatry, internal medicine, and behavioral health leadership. He is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and the American Board of Adolescent Psychiatry. Dr. Fred S. completed his medical education at Emory University and went on to train in internal medicine and psychiatry through the U.S. Army Medical System. Over the course of his 20-year military career, he served in leadership roles including Chief of Medicine at SHAPE Hospital in Belgium, Chief of Psychiatry at the 121 Evac Hospital in Seoul, and Chief of Inpatient Psychiatry at Letterman Army Medical Center in San Francisco, where he also taught and directed family and group therapy training programs. Following his military service, Dr. Fred S. transitioned into civilian psychiatry, where he has provided decades of service at Adventist Health Vallejo. He has served as Director of the Adolescent Unit and later as Medical Director, in addition to maintaining a long-standing private practice. He has contributed to the field through teaching and publications, including his article “Family Play Therapy” in Family Process, and continues to mentor the next generation of providers through group therapy and psychology training programs.
