Dr. Jon S attended Clemson University as an undergraduate before pursuing his medical education at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, SC. Remaining at MUSC, he completed a residency in psychiatry, where he was selected as chief resident in his final year. Following this, in 2013 he became the inaugural graduate of the United States' first fellowship in brain stimulation for treatment-resistant depression and brain stimulation focusing on ECT, TMS, DBS, VNS, and ketamine treatments. Over the ensuing decade, Dr. Snipes practiced psychiatry while serving as the Medical Director at a 136 bed inpatient hospital and program director of their Brain Stimulation Service. Concurrently, he oversaw a 36-bed inpatient chemical dependency unit, outpatient CDIOP​/​PHP, and an outpatient MAT service, and in 2024 he completed a board certification in Addiction Medicine via the American Board of Preventative Medicine. He now works extensively in multiple administrative roles and is heavily involved in collaboration and education.
